BTC To Invest ˆ5.1m in New Project - 2005-12-19
Bulgarian telco BTC plans to invest more than ˆ5.1m in the "Black Sea Shore" project for the modernisation of telecoms services along the Bulgarian Black Sea coastline. This was announced after a meeting between the company’s chief executive officer Dennis Wallach and the mayor of Varna Kiril Yordanov.
The "Black Sea Coast" project is part of BTC’s overall policy of making some regions in the country attractive for investors in the tourist and construction businesses. Under this project, telecoms infrastructure will be built in Kamen Bryag, Kavarna – Recreational Area, Topola, Sokolovo, Rogatchevo, Younetz, Goritza and Byala – East.
BTC is also working to expand its ADSL network in Northeast Bulgaria. By the end of the year, customers in another 13 cities in the area will be able to use the high-speed internet service – Priseltzi, Staro Oryakhovo, Byala, Shkorpilovtzi, Dolni Tchiflik, Valtchi Dol, Souvorovo, Bliznatzi, Dalgopol, Veliki Preslav, Kaspitchan, Tervel and Kranevo. Currently, in this region, BTC customers use the ADSL service in Varna, Dobritch, Shoumen, Provadia, Zvezditza, Axakovo, Kavarna, Baltchik, Albena and Novi Pazar.
The digitalisation process includes phasing out old analogue switchboards and installation of new access nodes.
