Polish Internet Access Market To Grow 11% by 2008 - 2005-12-14
The Polish data transmission services and internet access market will grow at a rate of 11 % per year from 2005 to 2008. At the same time the rate of growth in broadband services will be almost three times higher.
The Polish telecommunications services market (mobile and fixed-line services as well as data transmission and internet access) will grow during the same period by about 4 per cent a year. In this period the strongest growth dynamics, at 11 per cent a year, are expected in the Data Transmission, Line Rental and Internet Services Provision market. The value of this segment will rise from about PLN 3bn (about ˆ785m) in 2004 to PLN 4.4bn (ˆ1.15bn) by the end of 2008.
The report also predicts that mobile telephony penetration in Poland will rise to 83 per cent by end of 2006, and the internet to about 34 per cent. It also expects the number of broadband subscribers in 2005-2008 to increase fourfold from 1.26 million at the end of 2004 to about 5 million by the end of 2008.
